I just watched Amélie for what may be the fifth time. A rarity for me, since I rarely watch movies at all. Maybe this movie is an exception because it’s from the its first moment, I felt a kinship with the title character.
Her more than quirky personality makes her seem as if she’s oblivious to the world around her, but in truth she sees more than most. Living just inside, maybe even just outside, of what society deems ‘normal’ gives her a different perspective, one that understands reality but still maintains a curiosity and desire to know more, resulting in the creation of stories in her mind.
What better way to live than to be an adult with a child’s sense of wonder?
